Last year, RAM employed another four new members of staff as a result of our further growth and success. We welcomed Sarah Brown and Marion Heeps at the end of 2016, Mark Kerr in February and Elaine Morley soon after in June. After more than a good few months here, we feel it’s time to share a little more about them…
MARK KERR (REGIONAL OCTG MANAGER)
Before gaining his 15 years (and counting) of experience in the oil and gas industry, Mark started off in the motor trade where he learned his skills in salesmanship selling for a Peugeot dealer.
After moving on from cars, Mark started out his oil and gas career as a yard person learning the essentials and gaining experience first-hand with tubulars. After this Mark moved to Account Management and then progressed further to Sales/Business Development mostly dealing with Western Europe working for companies including Hunting Energy Services and NOV Tuboscope.
With his extensive experience and brilliant networking and socialising skills, Mark has become a great addition to the RAM team. Away from his working life, Mark is a family man with two young girls who he loves spending time with. He also enjoys playing golf and supporting Aberdeen FC.
ELAINE MORLEY (ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER)
Our Irish addition to the team, Elaine first came into contact with RAM whilst working for ASCO, a service provider to the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen. At the time she thought us a fine bunch of people who she would like to work with and as luck would have it, she is here with us now in her role as RAM Environmental Manager. Elaine is an ideal candidate for the position here as she started out studying as an Environmental Scientist at Kings College, London and went on to gain a great deal of experience in Waste Management having worked in both public and private sectors.
Outside of the working world, anything to do with water rocks her boat! She holds various RYA qualifications and is a PADI Open Water Diver. In the past she has lived on two boats including a Lloyds Registered small ship. Elaine bought one of her boats in Worcester and took it by river and sea around the south coast to a fixed mooring on the Thames at Canary Wharf. Fortunately, the boat is no longer in her life as it might be eyed up a as a nice piece of scrap!
SARAH BROWN: RAM SALES & MARKETING EXECUTIVE
Sarah Brown joined RAM Tubulars as our new Sales and Marketing Executive in September, with the aim to bring together and grow the Sales team.
She brings with her over 14 years industry experience (in addition to holding a chemical engineering degree), in numerous roles covering manufacturing, research and development, sales and operations; the majority being within M-I SWACO, where she specialised in sales and customer support throughout. This all round experience, including dealing with large multi-national companies, makes her a perfect addition for RAM Tubulars within our growth plans.
Out-with work, Sarah now spends the majority of her time with her family, normally doing something outdoorsy. Historically she was heavily involved with Society of Petroleum Engineers, in the promotion of more young people to take up STEM subjects and promoting females into and to remain within the oil and gas industry; both are still causes close to her heart.
MARION HEEPS: RAM OCTG ALES ADMINISTRATOR
Marion Heeps has worked in Oil & Gas Administration, Accounts and HSEQ for 10 years, prior to which was Business Support to NHS and BT Call Centres.
As a RAM Tubulars customer in her previous role but having been made redundant in September 2016, Marion demonstrated an awareness of the market that RAM saw as a benefit moving into the OCTG marketplace. Marion was delighted to come on board with RAM from October 2016.
A frequent gym goer and runner, Marion admits to enjoying the social side of running more than the run itself! A jog-leader with Jog Scotland, and a Run Director with local weekly park runs, she is keen on helping people to get into the running habit. Marion is enthusiastic to get the RAM team out running again too, having enjoyed many runs with Fiona in the past.
Marion is also a keen football fan, supporting lowly Montrose FC at home and away. She can however often be seen as a “Red for a Day” when RAM Sponsorship affords her a trip to Pittodrie.
